Metzke has been owned and operated by the Burt family since 1982, when the company was purchased by Vaughan Burt, from long-time friend and colleague, Bruce Metzke.
With over 40 years of company proprietorship, Metzke is now moving into the 3rd generation of Burt family engagement.
Sheldon Burt
Chairman
Sheldon serves as Chairman of Metzke and is an accomplished drilling industry professional with more than 35 years of experience across Australian and international markets. His career encompasses field operations, senior and executive leadership, and business ownership.
In 2019, Sheldon co-founded hydrogeological drilling contractor Pentium Hydro and was appointed a Director of its ASX-listed parent company, Vysarn Ltd. He previously co-founded and served as Managing Director of Perth-based exploration drilling company SBD Drilling, which operated across Australia and West Africa from 2004 to 2011. Following the sale of the business, he served as General Manager of Easternwell Minerals for six years, from 2012 to 2018.
Julian Burt AM
Director
Julian has worked at Metzke within the Sales team and assisted in growing the company during its earlier years. Julian currently holds multiple directorships within various companies and organisations as well as various advisory positions.
Simon Burt
Director
Simon has previously been the General Manager at Metzke and continues to be actively involved within the business on a regular basis with over 30 years experience in the drilling industry – continuing the family nature of Metzke – which makes our company different from many others – the active family care and involvement for the business and its staff.
