The Metzke team were proud to gather together to acknowledge the retirement of Vaughan Burt and to celebrate his career.
The team recognised Vaughan’s service to the drilling contracting industry and the development of the globally recognised Metzke Made range of drilling equipment.
Vaughan spoke fondly of his lifelong involvement in the drilling industry. He said “it’s a game like no other” and that his most cherished and valued memories have been the many people, friendships, and characters he has met along the journey.
Whilst Vaughan has stepped down as a director of Metzke, he is looking forward to being a frequent visitor to the Metzke facilities and keeping in touch with all the team - some of which have been with Vaughan for over 30 years.
To Vaughan and his wife Elizabeth, the Metzke team wish you a long and happy retirement.

Metzke stores team member Dain Leona is busy preparing another two Metzke Made, Metzke Splitters for despatch to a valued client.
The Metzke Splitter is a wet and dry drill rig sample splitter. Unlike any other splitter on the Market the Metzke Splitter utilises patented oscillating inlet tracts to evenly distribute sample over radial sample cutters.
This results in sampling cutting rates of up to ten times that of other Splitters (300 cycles/min compared to 40 cycles/min for rotary splitters).
A simple hydraulically operated hinge allows for safe and easy cleaning / inspection, while a large inlet provides high sample flow for increased productivity.
A leading and well-respected independent Geology Consultancy has validated the superior performance of the Metzke Splitter.
“In all metrics reviewed, the Metzke Splitter consistently outperformed the rotary cone splitter in
sample precision and accuracy”.
Please contact sales@metzke.com.au for a copy of the report.

Rowan McArdle (Machine Shop Supervisor) has reached the significant milestone of 15 years continuous service with Metzke.
Rowan trained as a tool maker in Victoria and utilised his skillset in the automotive industry. Rowan met his wife Janice and moved to West Australia to start a family. Upon his arrival Rowan quickly set out to find employment with a reputable company which had a need for his skillset, fortunately this company was Metzke. Rowan has seen substantial change in the business over the past fifteen years due to the investment in CNC machines, increased capacity due to the business doubling its footprint, and technological advances which have allowed the business to improve productivity through the rigorous testing of processes and tooling within the manufacturing department. Safety has continued to be a high priority within Metzke, this can be seen at operational level due to the safety systems put in place and at a design level due to the engineers including safety needs within their design brief.
Rowan has been instrumental in the acquisition of two Okuma CNC lathes and has taken great pride in training apprentices. While Rowan has encountered many changes in his time at Metzke, he still enjoys the daily challenges he and his team of machinists are faced with. The most enjoyable aspects of the job are being involved in new product development as well as being at the forefront in trialling new innovative tooling which enables Metzke to increase their productivity.
Unfortunately, Rowans fine taste of residence and reputable employment is not complimented by the football team he passionately supports, North Melbourne.
Metzke respects its greatest asset – its people.
